Getting a lot of mileage out of inking a plate once . . .
A quick, gestural sketch left way too much ink on the plate. Rather than being run through the press, which would have smeared the ink out into blobs, the plate was placed on the paper and the ink transferred by gentle pressure on the plate.

Too much ink remained on the plate for it to be run through the press, so a piece of buff paper was laid on the plate and the ink transferred to it with light pressure from a large roller on the paper.

A sheet of thin plastic film was laid on the plate to collect most of the remaining ink, except where thin folds in the plastic didn't touch the ink. The sheet was placed on a full-bleed plate, reversing the image, which was run through the press.

The full-bleed plate, with the film still attached, was run through the press a final time, imprinting the last molecules of ink onto paper which had already had one of the noise pieces (see the Noise Music section) begun on it.
